Minutes
for December 2, 2001 were approved
Fall
State cup: First two weekends
of November will be the preliminaries of Snickers.
First weekend after Thanksgiving will be the final four and the new
fall “B” cup. This was
passed.
Classic
teams will be scheduled on two Sundays during the classic season to create
10 possible playing dates during the classic season.
This was originally for the older teams only, but with the passage of
motion number 7, this will apply to all age groups. With NCYSA now
scheduling only one match per Saturday this will increase the number of
matches. This was passed.
Women’s
Premier and the Region III Premier. This
motion failed. Classic council
wanted the Region III committee to solidify how teams were picked to
participate in the Region III league before it was put to a vote.
Women’s
First and Second Divisions. NCYSA
will group teams as to get the most counting matches possible for all
classic teams. This motion
Passed with amendments: (1) Age divisions that play one game a day, (2) Up
to two matches to be allowed to be rescheduled, (3) No zero weekends.
Men’s
Premier and First Divisions. Boy’s
premier would go to six teams for the ages U16-U18 and the first division
would be expanded to 10 teams in the east and west.
This motion failed and was sent to committee.
The committee consists of: Bill
Ruffle, Jay Howell CASL, Anton Corneal PSA, Chris Neal CFYSA, and Sean Bubb
CSC.
Men’s
Second Divisions. NCYSA will
group teams as to get the most counting matches possible for all classic
teams. This motion was passed
with amendments: Age divisions that play one game a day, (2) Up to two
matches to be allowed to be rescheduled, (3) No zero weekends.
Reducing
men’s premier to six teams at ages U16-U18. This was not voted upon
because New Business number four was not passed.
U11
to U14 should be scheduled one match per day.
This motion was passed.
Change
of Schedule form guidelines. This
will be a form that will probably be updated as we go.
Team
registration must be in at least 30 days prior to opening weekend. If teams do not meet this deadline there will be a $100
fine. There are deadlines but
currently no punishment to teams who ignore the deadlines.
Too many teams are ignoring the deadlines and waiting to the last
minute. Challenge has a similar
problem and this mirrors their proposal.
This motion was passed.
Recruiting
Rules. This was not really a
motion but something to discuss. Not
enough time to discuss.
High
School coaches and classic soccer. This
was not really a motion but something to discuss.
Not enough time to discuss.
Classic
council will waive the thirty-day rule for notifying associations of
proposed amendments. The
proposals were put on the website on March 1, 2002 and this is not 30 days
in advance. Classic council
wanted to proceed with the proposals and voted to waive the 30-day notice.
This turned out to be unnecessary since our by-laws state that only
the announcement of the meeting needs to be out 30 days in advance.
Gary
Olive of KSA wanted to have the following statement as part of the record for
this meeting.
“I
wanted to go on record as opposed to the procedures followed for making such
sweeping changes. That there wasn't adequate notice given, and this has
set a dangerous precedence. That NCYSA should be taking more
responsibility as a governing body to make sure all members have an opportunity
to be heard. I also mentioned the VP's limiting of debate to 10 min. per
issue is not appropriate, nor is trying to make that many changes in 2 hours.”
Meeting
was officially adjourned.
