In January 2007, NCYSA formed an Under 10 Academy Committee to look at and establish a proposal to the Board of Directors for the formation of the NCYSA 10U Academy Program. In January 2010, a proposal was established and approved by the Board of Directors to extend the program to 12U and the program was renamed to the NCYSA Youth Academy.
The North Carolina Youth Soccer Association Youth Academy Program ensures all players, parents, & coaches across the state are teaching age-appropriate activities under qualified guidance.

NC Youth Academy Objectives:
- A recent development in US Soccer communities as late as the early 21st century.
- An “alternative” to frustrations felt by families with “win-at-all-costs” mentality during early developmental years
- Seek to improve individual player development
- Increase player participation, satisfaction, and player retention

First, your local Association must become a Youth Academy Association. Please email Bill Furjanic for details on how your association can be a part of the Youth Academy.
The NCYSA Youth Academy is offered for players ages 7-12. Please email Bill Furjanic with any questions.
The NCYSA Youth Academy offers age-appropriate training concentrating on development over winning. Please see the Benefits page in the right hand links or click here.
The Academy Showcase is held twice per year, at the end of the Fall and Spring seasons. The Showcase is for any Youth Academy team to attend. Scores are not kept and teams have the opportunity to play other Youth Academy teams they may not have seen in regular season.
